The castle from a bird's eye view
A medieval castle built upon a rocky promontory has been looming over the confluence of the rivers Otava and Volyňka in Strakonice for centuries. Today, the large complex, including the Gothic Rumpál tower, is a national heritage site and the dominating feature of this South Bohemian city. It was founded in the 13th century and has never been closed to public; it has always served the city and the people.
